Reception: Remember and celebrate the lives of Mary Louise Pierson (1959 - 2024) and Ann Rockefeller Roberts (1934 - 2024)

Please join the Gallery and Friends of Acadia on Sunday, July 6 from 4 - 6 pm as we remember and celebrate the lives of artist/philanthropist, Mary Louise Pierson (1959 - 2024) and author/activist Ann Rockefeller Roberts (1934 - 2024).
Together, Mary Louise Pierson (1959 - 2024) and Ann Rockefeller Roberts (1934 - 2024) co-created the historical, photographic books entitled Kykuit, The Rockefeller Family Home and Mr. Rockefellerʼs Roads: The Untold Story of Acadia's Carriage Roads. Over the years, the Gallery has promoted this dynamic mother-daughter team, two women mirroring each other's passion and dedication to these landmarks in American history.
Exhibit: July 6 - 31, 2025
Mary Louise Pierson (1959 - 2024), granddaughter of Nelson Rockefeller and daughter of Ann R. Roberts, grew up spending summers on Mt Desert Island. Mary Louise was an artist, photographer, philanthropist and lecturer. Her photographs include images of the Kykuit (Dutch for “lookout”) estate built by her great-grandfather in Pocantico Hills, New York, overlooking the Hudson River. Other photos capture the Asian Garden on Mt Desert Island designed in the 1930s by her great grandmother Abby Aldrich Rockefeller and garden designer Beatrix Farrand (1872-1959).
**A portion of the proceeds from the exhibit and book sales will go to Friends of Acadia to assist in continuing their commitment to beautifying and protecting the carriage roads throughout Acadia National Park
