Brian Emerson

Born and raised in New England, Brian Emerson has always had a desire to explore, sketch and paint the world around him. In the mid '90's he moved to Maine where he met and married his wife Colleen, daughter of artist Philip Barter. Working alongside his father in law on large installation projects and observing him in the studio helped the young artist develop in style and hone his technique.

Emerson's  goal in life and in his art is to truly see, explore and appreciate his surroundings be it the rocky Downeast coast, flowers casually assembled in a vase or the brick buildings of Portland. His paintings incorporate bold lines, strong color and exaggerated perspectives which invite the viewer to interpret and complete the spaces both within and outside the work.

Brian Emerson lives in southern Maine with his wife and daughter.
